Sod Replacement
If the time comes to replace your sod, it is vital to know exactly what is going in its place. Before Top Notch Pest Control technicians install fresh sod, they are trained to properly prepare the property for new sod to avoid repeat pest offenders; many ordinary lawn care companies are not.
Watering is key to keeping your new sod healthy. Top Notch Pest Control technicians advise watering early in the morning, instead of overnight, which can produce a spongy fungus. Also, limit watering your lawn to twice a week and use only half an inch to three-quarters of an inch of water per cycle.
When sod is ready to be mowed, keep mower blades sharp to create a clean, smooth cut; Frayed, brown edges are the result of dull mower blades. When trimming, it is best to only remove a third of the total grass blade. The length of a blade of grass is directly proportionate to the length of the root; the longer the root system, the healthier your grass will be. This ensures plenty of opportunity for the grass to absorb sunlight and vitamins.
